Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, has been deemed as one of the largest shopping days of the year. On Black Friday in 2006, comScore reported that e-commerce spending was up 42 percent over the same day during the year prior. According to comScore networks, the week before Thanksgiving also marked increased sales in 2006, with a 30 percent increase from that same time period during 2005. The Monday after Black Friday, Cyber Monday, is another big day for ecommerce spending as people make their way back to their work computers to start their holiday online shopping. It’s likely that traffic and sales will continue to increase during these times over the years, as both retailers and shoppers are now more aware of these big shopping days. Retailers often increase their sales and specials during this time, while shoppers hit the mouse to seek out these targeted savings. Stay on top of this holiday season by preparing your site for a possible increase in traffic, and offer sales and savings to entice that traffic to stop and make a purchase on your site!
