I think that Lady Gaga said it best when she sang, “love, love, love, I want your love.”

While most people assume she’s talking about her “bad romance,” she personally told me that she’s referring to your online business, namely how you want (and need) customer love.

To get started, check out today’s episode to learn five free and ways to cast a love spell over your entire customer base.

Hi everybody! My name is Matt and I’m the Social Media Manager here at Volusion. Welcome to Two Minute Tuesdays, where we give you two minutes of ecommerce advice to bolster your online success.

A lot of our viewers are small business owners, and I always get the question, “Hey Matt, how do I compete with the big dogs?” Honestly, the answer is simple: it’s all about making your customers fall in love with you. So today, let’s dive into five free ways to make your customers do just that.

To get started, always talk on your customers’ level. For example, if you’re selling computer products and only speak in technical jargon, you sound like a robot, which isn’t going to get you any love. Thus, become more human by always talking on an easy reading level to help customers easily understand you.

Second, deliver exceptional customer service. Whether you’re helping customers on the phone, through email or via your live chat tool, always ensure that people are raving about your support and aren’t upset by it.

Third, connect with social media. Give your community members a place to have fun. Whether you’re running contests or showing off your products on social media, make it light and friendly so customers will connect with you and tell their friends.

Fourth, say “thanks” with a surprise. This idea is a fun one where you can get creative. Whether you place a hand-written thank you note inside the shipping box, add a free gift or even just send them an email that says, “thanks for being such a great customer,” there’s nothing like feeling special whenever you buy something. These simple gestures are an easy way for you to get some extra customer love.

Last, but not least, make exceptions when you can. For example, if you have a loyal customer who may have missed a deadline on a return policy, maybe you sweep it under the rug and process the return. Remember, if you make customers feel special and make exceptions when appropriate, you’ll be on your way to a lot of love from your customers.

Hopefully this was helpful in getting your support ramped up to swoon thousands of shoppers.

If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help.

From me to you, happy selling!
